About Kaylee

Kaylee with Congressman Zach WampI wanted to find a way to support our Troops. There is a program called the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps. During the summer of 2005 I was at a camp and around a lot of military personnel who had just come back from overseas. The one thing that they kept telling me was that entertainment is a need. The little entertainment they do have gets listened to so many times. It becomes repetitive or they pass it on to the other men and women. When I got to thinking I realized that entertainment is CD's, DVD's, and books on CD. I went home and gathered all of my CD's and was amazed how many I had. When my friends heard what I was doing they donated theirs. Before I knew it I had collected almost 500 CD's.

On a regular basis people ask me why am I doing this, and what's in it for me. I look them in the eyes with a smile and explain to them that this is where my heart is. I have so much respect for the men and women who serve this great country. My goal is to attend The United States Naval Academy and serve in the Navy myself. Twenty years from now my generation will be the one who will be calling all the shots and basically running this country. I look at this as an opertunity to better prepare myself for what is to come. No matter how young you are you can still make a difference.

Sea CadetsWhat is Sea Cadets

The Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) is for American youth ages 13-17 who have a desire to learn about the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine. Sea Cadets are authorized by the Secretary of the Navy to wear Navy uniforms appropriately marked with the Sea Cadet Corps insignia. The objectives of the Sea Cadet program are to introduce youth to naval life, to develop in them a sense of pride, patriotism, courage, and self-reliance, and to maintain an environment free of drugs and gangs.
